Write for us
Grand County Review welcomes carefully pitched contributions that help general readers understand county geography and the character of places. A strong proposal begins with a specific question and makes clear what readers will learn.
What we welcome
We consider explanatory features about landforms, settlement patterns, routes, boundaries and place names. Pitches should offer a distinct angle, a clear scope and a reason the subject matters beyond a list of facts. We welcome accessible writing that defines terms and treats uncertainty honestly.
What to include
Send a short outline through the Contact page. Name the proposed subject, central question, intended reader and the main points the piece would explain. Mention relevant sources or materials you expect to use, and disclose any interests that could affect how the subject is presented.
Before sending
Please propose original work and avoid presenting an interpretation as established fact. Do not send a complete article unless requested. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication; we may ask questions or suggest a narrower focus.
A map is a beginning, not the whole story
We look beyond lines and labels to notice how land and human choices give places their character. Every explanation aims to distinguish what a map shows from what it cannot tell us.
